5.01 reviewsConveniently positioned off Interstate 35 in the heart of New Braunfels—one of Texas's fastest-growing communities and the gateway to the Texas Hill Country's most celebrated river recreation corridor—New Braunfels RV Park provides a practical short-stay campground for travelers moving through the San Antonio-to-Austin corridor and Hill Country visitors who want a no-frills base with immediate access to Schlitterbahn Waterpark, the spring-fed Comal River, and the German heritage downtown that has made New Braunfels one of the most visited communities in the Texas Hill Country. The park's pull-through and back-in sites with 30 and 50-amp service, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and coin-operated laundry serve the practical travel-stop needs in a location that puts waterparks, river outfitters, and historic Gruene Hall within minutes.
Pull-through and back-in RV sites with 30 and 50-amp electric service accommodate rigs of varying sizes in a park designed for the efficient short-term stay—whether a single night between San Antonio and Austin or a multi-day base for New Braunfels river and waterpark activities. Free high-speed Wi-Fi and coin-operated laundry provide the connectivity and practicality that overnight and short-term guests prioritize, and the park's I-35 adjacency next to one of the region's most popular travel centers makes arrival and departure straightforward for travelers on the corridor between Texas's two largest cities. The walkable proximity to restaurants, retail, and entertainment along the I-35 commercial strip adds an immediate convenience layer for guests who arrive late or depart early.
New Braunfels occupies a singular position in Texas recreational geography—a city built at the confluence of the spring-fed Comal and Guadalupe Rivers by German immigrants in 1845 that has become the state's tubing and river floating capital, drawing millions of visitors each summer to the river corridor's outfitters, parks, and Schlitterbahn Waterpark's legendary water rides. The Comal River, fed entirely by the Comal Springs, is one of the shortest rivers in the world at just 2.5 miles—but those 2.5 miles of crystal-clear, 72-degree spring water through Prince Solms Park and the river chute tubing district represent Texas river recreation at its most accessible and most famous.
Schlitterbahn Beach and Resort, consistently rated one of the world's best water parks, spans the Comal River's bank in downtown New Braunfels with its signature master blaster uphill water coasters, river rides, wave pools, and the mix of natural river and engineered water attractions that make it the Texas summer experience. Gruene Historic District, a few miles north along the Guadalupe River, preserves one of Texas's most beloved small communities—the Gruene Hall dance hall, operating continuously since 1878, and the Gruene Mansion Inn's Victorian buildings anchor an afternoon in one of the Hill Country's most atmospheric villages.
New Braunfels's river recreation season runs from spring through fall, with peak activity from Memorial Day through Labor Day when Schlitterbahn fills to capacity and the Comal River's tube course operates at maximum volume. The spring wildflower season in March and April, when the surrounding Texas Hill Country hills bloom with Indian paintbrush and bluebonnets, provides the most photographically spectacular conditions outside the summer river peak. San Antonio, 30 miles south, and Austin, 50 miles north, remain accessible for full-day excursions from the park's I-35 base when the Alamo, River Walk, or the Sixth Street entertainment district provide a change of pace from the river-focused Hill Country itinerary.
